Our Legacy

team

Just like a great ride, we’ve had a lot of fun twists and turns on this journey. Without the great crew of people that have worked with us along the way, there would be no story or history to share.  For all of you who have worked with us over the years, we are forever grateful.

Oakland Harley-Davidson® originally opened as Cycle Center of Fremont, a Honda-Triumph motorcycle dealership in the mid-1960s.  It was one of the first, if not the first, Honda motorcycle dealership in Northern California. It was located in the Irvington district of Fremont a few years earlier, and moved to the Fremont Boulevard location in the Centerville district. Kenny Evilsizor and his brother John operated the store, and added Kawasaki to the multi-line dealership in the early 1980s.

In June 1988 David sold the store to Dennis and Faye.  Dennis and Faye moved the dealership from Fremont Blvd. to Albrae Street in 1993, remaining in Fremont.  The new location was one of the first themed Harley-Davidson dealerships in the country, 1950’s style, with black and white checkered floors, teal walls, and neon signage.

In April 2005, Mike, Jess and Dan purchased the dealership from Faye.  They sold the Honda and Kawasaki franchises in 2006, which moved down the street in Fremont.

In 2008 the Dealership became Faultline Harley-Davidson® / Buell, and in October 2010 it moved out of Fremont to its current location in Oakland. The dealership moved into the former site of Bob Dron Harley-Davidson, which had ceased operation the month prior.

In May 2012 Oakland H-D was awarded the exclusive contract to provide the California Highway Patrol Harley-Davidson Motorcycles.  The next six bids were awarded to OHD, and over that time we built over 450 CHP motorcycles.  If you see a CHP officer on a Harley-Davidson, it was assembled by our crew in Oakland.

In July 2018 partner Dan retired.  Despite being an off-site owner, Dan played a critical role in our success, and without his contribution we would not be where we are today.

As the owners of Oakland Harley-Davidson, Mike and Jess believe that they are entrusted with carrying on the legacy of Harley-Davidson. They're both native Californians, and met in high school. Both worked in their individual family businesses from a very young age.

Both owners are on-site, working with staff and guests throughout the store, with Mike as the store lead, and Jess leading the vehicle sales team. Their practice is to not sit back on their former accomplishments, but rather daily continue to share their passion for motorcycling and Harley-Davidson.
